The issues that face Hispanic and underrepresented students in their efforts to secure STEM educations in urban colleges and, ultimately, employment in STEM fields are varied. The broad areas of intervention to address them seem to fall into a set of broad issue areas.
Non-Academic Support is among them.
Non-Academic Support considers the range of service that augment the student’s social environment and increase their access to support services that can assist their matriculation. This breakout session will explore the issues associated with forming an interactive, supportive community on an urban college campus and the degree to traditional delivery modes of those services can be augmented, or expanded, to provide a supportive community.
